20/12/14 - Christmas & New Year Greetings and News!!!
Christmas & New Year Update
Hey folks!
We hope you’re all keeping well this festive season. We just thought we’d wish you glad tidings and give you a brief update of what’s happening with us in early 2015.
After the overwhelming success of the release of Bohemian Groove, our lead single from our forthcoming album, The Sentinel Paradox, we start January with shooting the video for the follow up single, Dark Night Of The Soul, due for release as a free download on Monday 26th January.
To celebrate the release of Dark Night Of The Soul, we will be joining Jim Hussell on http://www.therockshow.co.uk from 20:00 GMT to chat about various things including The Sentinel Paradox, due for release as digital download and cd on Monday 2nd February, and our plans for its’ launch.
On Saturday 31st January, we start our album launch celebrations in association with Llanelli Music Scene, with our guests, V0iD and 27 Cobalt, at an intimate, pre-launch show at The Mason’s Rock Bar, Llanelli. Copies of The Sentinel Paradox will be exclusively available to purchase at the show, two whole days before its’ official release. Please note that The Mason’s has a limited capacity, so entry is on a “first come, first serve” basis, so we recommend getting there early!
Monday 2nd February is the official launch day for our long-awaited debut album, The Sentinel Paradox, and to mark the occasion, we will be joining Michael Kennedy on http://www.oystermouthradio.com for a special edition Welsh Connections Show broadcast. The show will be going out live from 18:00 GMT.
Oystermouth Radio’s Welsh Connections are co-presenting our Swansea show at The Scene on Wednesday 4th February, where we will be joined by our old friends, King Goon and fellow Death Monkey rockers, 100000 Bodybags.
On Thursday 4th February, we make our 3rd radio show guest appearance in 10 days, when we head up to the Newport City Radio studios, to join Alex Shergold on his Rock N Roll Circus show. During our time at NCR, we will also be performing an exclusive acoustic set. The show will be beamed live from http://www.newportcityradio.org from 20:00 GMT, should you wish to tune in!
We stay in Newport for a 2nd night, as Newport City Radio’s Rock N Roll Circus host a live show for us on Friday 6th February at Mezelounge. Support for this event is still T.B.C.
On Saturday 7th February, we finish off the week in style at our Capital city, Cardiff, where we will be playing at Fuel Rock Bar, joined once again by 100000 Bodybags and Pontypridd chaotic punk metallers, Breakdown Face.
At this moment, we’d like to point out that entry to ALL events will be free. The Sentinel Paradox will be available to purchase at all shows, and will be available from our site as download or mailorder cd from Monday 2nd February.
So have fun over the Christmas & New Year period, guys, and we hope to catch you somewhere soon.
Take care.

28/11/14 - All You Need To Know Regarding Monday's Single Launch
So, the writing's on the wall. Unless we are beset by circumstances beyond our control, our lead single, Bohemian Groove, from our forthcoming debut album, The Sentinel Paradox, gets the green light this Monday, 1st December.
Those of you who have followed us over the years will be fully aware of our outlook when it comes to giving people value for money when it comes to our music - our previous, self produced EPs, Our Own Personal Tabloid and The Six Degrees Of Separation have always been available for free, and we also gave physical copies away at our gigs while cd format was available. We have always believed very strongly in our music being accessible to as many people as possible.
And although when the album is released we will have to sell it (for a very reasonable price, of course!), we can confirm that Bohemian Groove will be available as a digital mp3 download from this Monday absolutely free of charge!!!
You will be able to to acquire your free download directly from ourselves here at World Vs. World HQ (on our Music Downloads tab), and will also be available from our Reverb Nation profile, and on Soundcloud from the Death Monkey Records or World Vs. World profiles.
www.reverbnation.com/worldvsworldrock
www.soundcloud.com/worldvsworldofficial
www.soundcloud.com/deathmonkeyrecords
We will also have a video to accompany the single, which will be viewable from our YouTube channel - www.youtube.com/worldvsworldofficial
If you wish to contact us about anything regarding the single release or anything else about the band, either email us (direct link at top of site) or drop us a message on our Facebook page (top of site).
Thanks for your time.

13/10/14 - The Sentinel Paradox Launch Week! 31st January-7th February 2015!!!
Hello folks
As you may have noticed, on Facebook this morning we sneakily announced a few events in line with the release of our debut album in February! We ain't into this "making announcements about announcements" thing that some like to do, we prefer the element of semi-surprise!
Our album, The Sentinel Paradox, is due for release on 2nd February through Death Monkey Records, and we will be dropping a few singles on you between now and February, the first being Bohemian Groove, which will be released as a download in December. We've been covertly filming the accompanying video for it over the last couple of weekends, and we're getting really excited about the whole thing, and we'd like to think that some of you are now getting excited too, now that we have made you aware of our Launch Week plans!
There are still one or two things we need to tie up for The Sentinel Paradox Launch Week, but we have teamed up with Llanelli Music Scene,Oystermouth Radio's Welsh Connections Show, and Newport City Radio's Rock N Roll Circus to bring you a range of different events from exclusive pre-launch shows, radio appearances, acoustic sessions and the like, so you can even partake in the celebrations without even leaving your houses if you want to, but it would be cool if you could leave your houses for the gigs if you are in the vicinity of any of them, obviously!
We start the week in Kirk's hometown of Llanelli at our favourite venue, The Masons Arms Llanelli, on Saturday 31st January, for an intimate pre-launch show, were attendees will be treated to live performances from ourselves and the awesome V0iD, plus you will have an exclusive opportunity to pick up a copy of The Sentinel Paradox a whole 2 days before it's available to the rest of the world!
Monday 2nd February is Launch Day, and we will be paying a visit to Oystermouth Radio for a special two hour Launch Day broadcast on Michael Kennedy's Welsh Connections Show. The show will be broadcast live at www.oystermouthradio.com
On Wednesday 4th February, we will be hitting The Scene in Swansea with our hellraising buddies, 100000 Bodybags and King Goon for some midweek mayhem.
On Thursday 5th February, we will be heading to Newport for our 2nd radio appearance of the week on Newport City Radio's Rock N Roll Circus, which will feature chat and stuff, followed by an exclusive acoustic session. Listen live at www.newportcityradio.org
Friday 6th is still yet to be confirmed, so stay tuned as we guarantee we will have something exciting going on!
And we finish off the week in style on Saturday 7th February, in our beautiful capital city of Cardiff, at the coolest music venue in the city, FUEL ROCK CLUB, where we will be joined once again by 100000 Bodybags, and Pontypridd punk/metal 3-piece, Breakdown Face.
All live gigs that week, as things currently stand, will be FREE ENTRY (once we have confirmed everything for 6th, we will know for sure, but it's our intention to keep things that way!), all you will have to put your hands in your pockets for is drinky-poos and your copy of our album (which we promise will be very reasonably priced!). We can't say fairer than that, can we?! No, we can't!
Details for all events are available in our Tour Dates section (click on the tab at the top of the site). We hope some of you can make it along as it would be awesome for you all to be part of this very special week in our lives. You have stuck with us through thick and thin over the years (for which we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!), so we consider you as our extended family, and it's always nice to spend quality time with family! We know this album has been a while in the making, but we're sure that when you hear it, you will agree it was well worth the wait!
Keep your eyes peeled and ears clear for more news regarding single release dates in the meantime, as there will be some! But for now, we hope to catch up with some of you in 8 days time when we head up to The Factory Music Venue in Porth for our slot at Rhondda Rocks November next friday!
Take care and stay true.
As you may have noticed, on Facebook this morning we sneakily announced a few events in line with the release of our debut album in February! We ain't into this "making announcements about announcements" thing that some like to do, we prefer the element of semi-surprise!

10/10/14 - UPdates AND THAT...
So, things seem a little quiet as we are not out on the road as much as we are used to. But never fear, we are just busy making plans!
The Summer Festival Season is almost a distant memory, but there are still exciting things going on that we are proud to be a part of!
Tonight, for example, we venture up to the the legendary venue deep in the valleys, known as The Patriot, in Crumlin, We are part of an all Death Monkey line up , joining 100000 Bodybags and Lawless & Lulu, for a benefit show in aid of The Friends Of the Navigation Colliery; a voluntary society based in the community which is responsible for maintaining the dilapidated site and buildings of the long disused Navigation Colliery. Doors are at 7pm, you can find the details in our Tour Dates tab.
Next month, we will be back up the Valleys, to the hallowed ground of The Factory (formerly known as The Pop Factory), for the 3rd weekend (Friday 21st November) of the month long Rhondda Rocks November festival. More details on that as we get them.
In the meantime, we will be shooting the video for our up-coming first single from our forthcoming album, ready for the single release in December, and making some very interesting plans for the album release in February. Stay tuned for more news as it comes!
Also, the last 3 weeks we have held the #1 spot on the regional Reverb Nation Alternative chart (now at #2), and have also spent the best part of a month, ranking higher in their National Alternative charts that Red Bull Records big-guns, Twin Atlantic amongst others. It's been quite nice! Thanks to everyone who's helped make it happen by streaming, downloading and sharing our tracks from there. We have also uploaded a few rare acoustic versions of our songs on there to keep you occupied while you're waiting for the album! These songs are EXCLUSIVELY available for download from our Reverb Nation profile, and are absolutely free of charge.
For daily/weekly updates, head over to Facebook and Twitter and Like/Follow us. Click on the icons at the top of the page to be taken directly.

28/08/14 - Swansea Food Bank Update, UMF 15th Anniversary, The Big Cwtch Summer Party...and...Some News regarding a certain album!!!
Ok, so after kicking off August in deepest, darkest West Wales for Mayhem Festival 2014, we joined forces with our label-mates and good friends, Nine Plan Failed and 100000 Bodybags and put on two free shows, the first at Crowley's Rock Bar in Swansea and on the following Friday at one of our favourite venues in the area, The Mason's Rock Bar in Llanelli, which were organised in aid of Swansea Food Bank. We merely requested that those who attend bring a food item from a list which could be passed on to the food bank to be used in much needed food parcels. Today, after the beautiful generosity of the public, we are taking 210KG of food donations from attendees, band members, venue management, and people who were unable to attend but still wanted to donate to the cause. We are totally overwhelmed with the result of the two shows and everyone's selfless generosity, and we can't thank everyone enough for their efforts!!! But thank you all anyway!
Last weekend also saw us make our 5th appearance at the fast coming legendary Uplands Music Festival in Swansea. Celebrating its' 15th Anniversary this year, the event took place in 4 different venues, showcasing in the region of 120 South Wales-based acts from a spectrum of genres over 4 days, and raised quite a bit of folding for this year's appointed charity, Team Jen. It was a fantastic weekend and we look forward to its' existence for many years into the future!
Our next live appearance as things stand will be at the inaugoral Big Cwtch Summer Party, deep in the heart of the Cothi Valley at Glanrannell House, Crygybar. It is being held in aid of the charity, Ski4All Wales. You will find more details about this event further down this news thread, and on the link in our Tour Dates tab, along with ticket links. AS FAR AS WE ARE AWARE, ENTRY IS BY TICKET ONLY, AND NUMBERS ARE LIMITED, so get yours booked soon as it's barely a fortnight or so away!
ALBUM NEWS?!
Yes, we know it's been a while in the making, but we finished the physical recording process in July, and are currently in the process of getting the mixes nailed. We had a meeting with our associates at Death Monkey Records last week, and we've agreed a release date for both the album and the lead single! Our debut single from the album, Bohemian Groove, will be released as a download during December (you can get your download from here, the Death Monkey website, along with our Reverb Nation and Bandcamp profiles*), while we are aiming for the album to be released on both cd and digital download from here, the Death Monkey website, or cd from Derricks Records, Swansea; Spillers Records, Cardiff; Diverse Music, Newport; and Andy's Records, Aberystwyth; along with being available to purchase from us at gigs from 2nd February onwards. So yes, the album release date is 2nd February. Expect more news regarding this along with talk of launch shows/tours in the forseeable future.
*this will be confirmed closer to the time
Until then, much love to you all, and we hope to see you somewhere soon!

13/08/2014 - Swansea Food Bank Benefit Shows!!!
Ok folks, in two days, on Friday 15th August, we will be joined by our Death Monkey Records stablemates and very good friends, Nine Plan Failed and 100000 Bodybags at Crowley's Rock Club, Swansea, for the first of our two Swansea Food Bank benefit shows.
As we all know, the number of people who are reliant on food banks to survive in the UK is well into 7-figures, which for the 7th Wealthiest Nation on the planet, is absolutely unacceptable. And as time goes on under the current government, things are just getting harder and harder for the more vulnerable people in our society, whether they are homeless, sick, disabled, unemployed or just struggling to keep their heads above water due to not getting enough guaranteed work for a guaranteed wage. The government have totally abandoned their legal Duty Of Care and feel it's not their problem, when it is a direct result of their policies in action. They see supporting the financial "banks" that crippled our and the world economy to be a far greater priority than supporting Food Banks, and such institutions are run solely thanks to the donations from the public. So we have decided to try and help in our own way, by organising 2 FREE ENTRY shows, where we ask everyone attending to try and bring along an item of food (see detailed list of acceptable items on our events page. The only thing we ask is that you ensure whatever you bring is within its' use-by date and sealed, as we will have to refuse any which are not. Bands start at 9pm. Please come along and bring what you can. Thank you. |
11/08/2014 - New Date announcement!!!
If you missed our Facebook posts last week, we'd like to bring it to your attention that we were approached by the organisers of The Big Cwtch Summer Party recently and were asked to play at their inaugoral event at Glanrannell Park House, Crygybar, Carmarthenshire, on 13th September 2014.
There will be all sorts of family activities, stalls and many, many hours of great live music. For full details and tickets, go to www.facebook.com/thebigcwtch; www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-big-cwtch-summer-party-tickets-12447523879 (ticket link). The event is being run in aid of Ski 4 All Wales, which is a local charity which concentrates on helping build up confidence, co-ordination, and general mobility skills in disabled and ex-amputees through ski therapy. Hope you will all be able to help this well deserving cause.

10/12/13 - Another Notch on the WVW Belt - 2013...
World Vs. World H.Q. - December 2013
Well it’s the end of yet another year, and before we scurry away to hibernate in the studio for Christmas, we just wanted to use this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support. It never goes un-noticed or unappreciated. Many thanks to each and every one of you, whomever you may be.
We’ve had quite a busy year full of euphoric peaks with the odd trough, and have had a difficult year in our own personal lives, but we have far more great memories to take from 2013 than bad. Every day is a learning curve both in life and in a band, and you have to adjust your sails constantly, but we’ve had some fantastic experiences on the road this year and spread out and left our mark on new towns and cities. We have also been trying to squeeze in the recording of our long awaited album where we can during the year, and go into 2014 with it ready for post-production and evident release. So we’ve achieved virtually everything we’d set out to at the start of the year.
As well as visiting new places and meeting new faces, back in April we were also featured guests at Oystermouth Radio on the Welsh Connections Show*, courtesy of Mike Kennedy, plus did a podcast interview with Llanelli Town TV* thanks to Llanelli Music Scene in May, had a version of Bang To Rights featured on Llanelli Music Scene’s Free Monthly Downloadable Album* in July, and the icing on the cake for the year was to have our music used by U.S. Comedian and Social Activist, Lee Camp (www.leecamp.net) in one of his fast becoming legendary “Moment of Clarity” podcasts! (#263 – I Don’t Wanna Live In This World Anymore!)*
We also unleashed our brand new website in September featuring everything and more!!! Go have a look at www.worldvsworldofficial.com
As for favourite World Vs. World shows of 2013, we enjoyed each and every one, but if we had to select a few "highlights", we reckon they would include without doubt:
Until then, we hope you all stay safe over the festive period and wish you all a very enjoyable Christmas & New Year. Thanks again for riding this journey with us, we shall see you all soon.

10/12/13 - ANOTHER NOTCH ON THE WVW BELT - 2013
World Vs.
As you can see!!!

As a result, we would like to announce that we will be playing at the following event in November:
Thursday 7th November
WOODMANSTOCK 39 – The Garage Music Venue, Swansea
We will be joining the likes of The Rookz, Weird Naked Indian, Sarah Passmore, and more to celebrate Swansea’s longest-standing music promoter, Chris Woodman’s advancement into the final year of his 30’s. He has given to the Swansea Scene for over 15 years, and has been a close friend of the band for many years, so it’s a real honour to have been selected to join the bill.
You should come along!

*Official Update*
As a result of Kirk suffering from a broken clavicle after a minor accident, we are forced to declare that we have no option but to refrain from playing live for at least the next 8 weeks.
This means that it is unlikely we'll be coming out to play for the rest of the year now. This fact saddens us deeply, but these things can't be predicted, and of course, Kirk needs to take heed of the medical advice to enable the injury the best chance of repairing itself fully. If this changes and a speedier than expected recovery is made then we shall let you know.
However, we shall now take advantage of this quiet spell to make as much progress as possible with regards to finishing off the recording of the forthcoming album. We all hope Kirk's current physical condition doesn't infringe too much on that process.
In the meantime, we trust you are all doing ok and keeping yourselves safe. And we're sure you join us in wishing Kirk as speedy a recovery as possible.
Thank you for your support, and we shall see you soon.

24/12/12 - 1 YEAR, 3 GUYS, 42 SHOWS! OUR 2012 IN SUMMARY...
We had a storming year full of ups and downs in 2012, but we came into it as we do every year, with a set of primary objectives, which we are pleased to say now that the 12 months are up, we achieved all our objectives, so in all it’s been a very positive year for us, and the most active and productive year in the band’s history.
We kicked our year off slightly earlier than usual, as we planned to come out of Christmas and New Year and hit the ground running. Our first live appearance of 2012 was at The Garage Music Venue in Swansea in early January, followed by a show at The Duke in Neath to celebrate the band’s 5th anniversary with our buddies Nine Plan Failed.
February saw us play a few new towns and venues we hadn’t played before and we also paid the Bro Radio studios in the Vale of Glamorgan, for our 1st radio session of the year.
We toured throughout South Wales in March and April, and in May, we headed into the recording studio to lay down what became demos for our forthcoming E.P.
The touring continued throughout the summer months and saw us make 3 festival appearances at Tavern Rock 2012, Party At The Pub 2 Fest at The Patriot, Crumlin (though having to get our gear there with the help of the crowd as we had vehicular issues on the way!), and the Uplands Music Festival, though touring was put on temporary hold for 8 weeks following an incident where Kirk broke his hand, though he made a very speedy recovery!
September saw our hard work over the last 5 years pay off when we signed a 2 year deal with independent label, Death Monkey Records, who we are due to commence recording of our long-awaited follow up to The Six Degrees Of Separation. We also went back up to the Newport City Radio studios for our 2nd radio appearance/session of the year, and our 2nd time at the station (our 1st being October 2011).
In October we headlined the opening night of Oxjam Neath Takeover 2012 and were also proud to be approached to headline a charity event in aid of Wales child cancer charity, Latch, in early November.
We decided to ease off touring mid-November after Damian suffered the sudden bereavement of his mother at just 58 years old, and decided to just fulfill already booked dates and not book anything else for the 2012, but the band ended the year on a high with our 1st visit to The Hog & Hosper in Pontypool and ending things at our spiritual home – The Duke in Neath, after 12 months of high’s, low’s, broken down vehicles, broken hands, broken guitars, personal loss, record deals, radio appearances, and, a band personal best of a total of 42 shows in one year!!!
We’ve had a cracking time all told, and we’re so glad to have been part of it, and are thankful for the support from you all in whichever way you’ve expressed it. We couldn’t be us if you were not you!
We wish you a Happy Christmas and an enjoyable New Year and we hope you all stay safe over the festive season and look forward to taking thinks up a gear with you all in 2013!
We are already making big plans for next year, being due to head into the studio in January to record, and with some dates already booked for February and an appearance scheduled on the Welsh Connections Show with Dave Kennedy on www.oystermouthradio.com on 1st April, so stay tuned, folks!
See you all somewhere soon.

24/10/12 - OXJAM NEATH & A VISIT TO CARMARTHEN
So we headlined the Friday night of this year's Oxjam Neath Takeover last Friday! Our 2nd time we've had a headline slot at the event and our 4th year in succession of supporting quite a worthy cause, which is something we are very proud of!
In total, the event raised around £1000 for Oxfam, which is amazing in such a period of enforced austerity from this beloved government.
We're off to Carmarthen to join our buddies and fellow Swansea scene stalewarts, Texas Flood this Friday! Our 1st time back at the Golden Lion Hotel in about a year, so hopefully it'll be a mega show! Entry is free, so if you're in Carmarthen and at a loose end this Friday, come along and say hello!!!

22/08/12 - World Vs. World Join Death Monkey Records!
So here's our official statement:
"We'd like to allay any rumours you may have recently heard, and confirm that we are joining the DeathMonkeyRecords family.
We are both pleased and proud to be joining a stable with such a pedigree as Nine Plan Failed, 100000 Bodybags, Conductors, Fluff Tongue, Glass Leaves and Adam Burse, and are excited for the positive times ahead.
We'd like to thank everyone who's given us their support, not only in the last few weeks during the negotiation period, but throughout our time as a band, and really appreciate the fact that Death Monkey have the faith in us to get behind us in this way.
Here's to a positive future for both parties!"
